Why Worry?

Posted on 25. Jun, 2009 by loswhit in Authenticity

I worry. That is what I do when I try and take control of my life.
I’ll find a little lump and rub the crap out of it until it grows because of my rubbing.
I do the math 40 times a day because I feel like the budget will change by the 40th time.
So if you are having a worry filled day, read this, then read this…

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

If that was for you, it’s because it is for me.

Yep – totally was for me. I have some tests being run tomorrow at the Doc's office and webmd.com wasn't helping at all… nor was my Husbands recent diagnosis with Crohns… some of my sysmtes match and I was trying to play Doctor – and God, I suppose – adn figure it all out and getting myself all worked up.

He is still God. Period. End of story. Beginning of Story. He IS the story… and I am not.

    Webmd.com is the devil's $100 on a string. Stupid little website…

Thank you! My husband lost his job – Tuesday is his last day. He's a teacher in CA and over 26,000 teachers and school employees were laid off in CA due to state budget. Don't know where to go or what to do. Fear is creeping up…

Keep it going Los . . . "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (4:8 //NLT) – instead of concentrating on what you are worrying about-why not ask yourself – what are 5 things I am grateful for right now? :)

So when I read your tweet about this post yesterday, I was sitting in the waiting room at a maternal fetal specialist's office. I was there b/c we'd had 3 ultrasounds that showed problems with our unborn daughter's kidneys, and I was worried sick. Read your tweet, read this post, and it was exactly what I needed to hear at that very moment. I said a prayer and trusted.

And 45 minutes later, they told us that her kidney's were perfect and she was healthy as could be.

    God is awesome.

I'm a worrier too. We had a guest pastor today, and he said, "Worrying isn't going to add one breath of life to the life He has given you." Wow. Perspective.
