The Perfect Vacation

Posted on 15. Jun, 2009 by loswhit in Mid Afternoon Distraction

My wife and mother love to go,go,go on vacation.
Me? My iPod, The Album Leaf, a beach town, an ocean breeze, and the back of my eyelids.

What is your ideal vacation?

The sun and a good sized pool are generally all I need. Also, somewhere exotic where you can experience a different part of the world.

    surf board
    skim board
    or boat during the day
and a hamock by the water @ night

Going anywhere far away from the city we live in is my ideal vacation. I could spend it go, go, going, seeing new places or chillaxin' by the pool or beach…it's all good as long as it's away!

Ireland or Scotland, small secluded cottage, great music, a good book and my man! Ahhhh someday…

Start with plenty of books and a comfortable chair where I begin my day with a cup of coffee and end it with a glass of wine. Then fill up the middle part with good food and exploring new places.

Boy the answer to that question has changed over the years!

Now just spending time with family & friends about covers it. Doesn't matter where but the sound of water definetly helps! Yesterday was a good example, no beach or exotic locale, just in the parents backyard after 3 generations worshiped together, shared a meal, old photos, replayed some old stories, that was vaction for me!

A big busy diverse cultured eclectic city with museums, restaurants, stores, sights and people I've never seen… but my husband is more like you :) he'd prefer to sleep in, leisurely grab food when needed and stumble into something fun – God has a great sense of humor putting us together!

I've done a lot of different types of vacations-road trip camping, cruises, stay-in-a-hotel, visit the hospital during the honeymoon, but my favorite is a cruise. It's kinda like a road trip cuz you visit many different places, but also like staying in a hotel, but you don't have to pack and unpack your stuff for each different stop. Plus, when you pay for a cruise, you don't have to pay for your food-it's included!

I should include my husband's ideal vacation. Or what he means when he says "Let's take a vacation." This entails driving to Oregon and staying with his Grandma for a week. Now, I can understand wanting to visit, but as she will cook and clean for him just like I cook and clean for him, what's the difference to him? He drives 16 hours to basically just just sit at home? I'd rather sit in my own home.

I like to go out and do things on my vacation.

I like to have some relax time where I do nothing, but I also like to take the time to see and experience new things. About half-n-half, I guess.

  22. Conner_Byrd 16 June 2009 at 3:19 am #

Its still so fresh in my memory but VEGAS!
Beach doesn't do so much for me.

I'm with Mills! Poolside, cigar, bourbon & Coke, sunglasses, maybe a book, my iPod, I'm golden for hours!!

I think I'm going to have my perfect vacation in a couple weeks. For our 15th anniversary, I am taking my wife to Aruba for seven days. Friends of ours, who owns a time share, are giving us one of their weeks for a really, really, really, really affordable price. Just me and my Honey Brown (my wife, not the beer) "chillaxing" on the white sandy beaches enjoying one another.

  25. The Wingnut 16 June 2009 at 10:43 am #

All these things sound awesome to me, really. I guess my idea vacation is a week without an alarm clock or deadlines. Anything else is just icing on the cake!
