We moved to NYC with no job, but God arranged pieces through miserable job interviews, 'random' meetings, and a movie-like run through the streets of New York to land me at my job. We were considering a retreat back to FL at the time.

Late 2006. I had been self-employed as an independent business and technology consultant for about four years when I reluctantly accepted a full-time employee position with the company I was contracting with at the time. I really loved contracting and was making some great cash but my wife and I felt like maybe a full-time position would be good (simpler) for awhile since we were about to bring home our adopted daughter, Carmen, from Guatemala.

A little while after bringing Carmen home, we found out that she had a significant health issue that would require massive medical expenses for as long as she lives.

I always cringe just a bit when I hear someone say, "Oh, well that's why God did that," because I think comments like that attempt to shrink God down to our size, like we can possibly understand why God does everything He does. Maybe I'm doing the same thing here but I absolutely believe that God provided my current job three months BEFORE we brought Carmen home because we probably wouldn't have survived without the great health insurance that came with my job. Through my current employer, God provided GREAT health insurance that covers ALL of Carmen's nursing care, medical equipment, Hospice care, etc.

My current job is a frequent reminder that when I feel stuck doing one thing when I'd rather be doing something else (e.g. working for some great church organization like NPM or Mosaic), God is still working in me, through me...and mostly on me ('cause I need a lot of work!).

He knows what's best for me better than I do.

One of my best friends helped to plant a church here in Abilene, TX. I left a church of 2500 + I was playing on the worship team with to come and play electric guitar with him. 2 years after my friend helped to begin the Church he left to pursue a career in music with his new band and I interviewed to be the Church's Worship Pastor. I started to 2 weeks ago! This has been a dream of mine and I'm excited to where God takes us! I also met my wife at this Church and she is now the Children's Director. www.journeyabilene.com

I quit my job, my benefits, and my salary in 2005 to follow God's calling to plant a church... Little did I know I'd be quitting life in a bigger city (West Palm Beach) and move to the booming metropolis of Spring Hill, FL!

In August of 2006 I teamed up with @paulcastelli and @bradklausman to launch Crosspoint Church! The pay was non-existent but the benefits are out of this world! (Thankfully 3 years later we are getting paid, but most importantly people are finding Jesus and it's growing!)

My church is my home church. Grew up there and have loved and served her through thick and thin, goin' on 30 years now. Started there as a volunteer helping with some transitions in the area of worship, fast forward 10 years and some blood sweat and tears, now full time staff leading the worship ministry and as director if communication. It hasn't always been a bowl of Skittles, but to me my church is like family. Even when you're ticked and frustrated an hurt by them at times, they're still family. Stick it out fr the long haul, I say!
