So I’m A Dad // Zaccheus was a wee little LAMB

Posted on 04. Sep, 2009 by loswhit in Family

So every night we read our kids a bible story out of this rad kids Bible.
This is a great example of what goes down every night.
It’s like 5 minutes long.
If you don’t love kids, my kids, or me, you will probably wanna skip it.
But I think it’s freaking amazing.
I LOVE BEING A DAD
;)

Even when my wife makes me pain my face like a cat and I mess up and paint whiskers growing from my lips and not my nose…

Zaccheus was a wee little LAMB…

First time commenting here on your blog…
Those were some fantastic application questions with your kids!

Love the responses to “How would you feel if the seed you planted died?”…

    Something to ponder for sure.

Can I just tell you that I loved watching this?!

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I did not grow up in a Christian home…now I am a seminary student studying biblical counseling. Right now one of the classes that I'm taking is 'Counseling Parents and Children.' Last class we were talking about bringing your kids up in the Lord and how important it is to have a family worship/bible study time. Sometimes I get a bit apprehensive because I'm not sure what that looks like, being that I didn't grow up in a Christian home. And seeing this little video really eased my mind. My husband and I don't have any kids yet but when we do (Lord willing) we want to be able to have natural conversations about God and His Word. I guess it really is possible! ;-)
So thanks for posting this up as a great example of teaching your kids about God's Word.

I already said this on Heather's blog, but your kids are so cute!! That was a great video; my kids will want to see it too. I'm blessed to have a husband that does this with me with my kids almost every night. He makes it so much fun for them :) I'd like to know the name of that Bible too…

Truly inspiring! It's like watching my life. Your kids sound so much like my four beautiful babies when we do devotions and pray. And I am particularly blessed by the prayer for the bus driver as I drive a school bus in addition to being a youth pastor! Than ks for sharing!

Yeah. Sure. It starts out like that. But my guys are now 15 and 18 and we still have "hangin' out time" every night — even when the oldest is home from university. We're talkin' entire chapters of the Life Application Bible with ALL the notes, read out loud by me. We're talkin' binge reading from adult devotionals where we do 3 or 4 selections in one night. We're talkin' entire chapters of books by Max Lucado or Stuart Briscoe. And the winner is … me! I get so much out of this. And my kids have a spiritual maturity I never had at that age. Only one downside: We never did scripture memory. But they know lots more stuff about the ways of God.
