Everything Is Right In The World

Every night around 4 am…
Oh wait. That’s morning…
She makes her way out of the top bunk…
Down the ladder…
Over Polly Pockets, Disney Princesses, and 43,810 crayons…
Across the hall…
Over my mound of clothes I have dropped at the door of our bedroom…
Around my laptop leaning against the bed frame…
Into our bed…
Under my cover…
Butt into my gut…
Cheek next to mine…
Arm around my face…
And into my soul.

And it’s not until I feel her breath interfering with my own that I realize she is there.
And it’s at that moment…
At 4 am…

That everything is right in the world.

Takes me back 26 years when our firstborn was 2. I would hear her say in the middle of night “daddy, come get me.” Almost makes me cry all these years later.

Something pure and beautiful about the love of a daughter. Soak it up – I do.

Oh, and make sure you’ve got a bulletproof archive of RMS so you can look back and remember when she’s dating…

That is adorable and all but the mom in me is saying “Where is Heather supposed to sleep?” Parenthood…It is those moments you live for. Love it!

I just keep smiling because it looks as if you have a tuft of hair coming out of your otherwise bald dome.

One of my daughters (ok, sometimes all three) will do the same thing. Rachel usually takes a similar path to our bed around 5 am, so I know that I have another hour or two before getting up. She gets up with me before everyone else. Our quiet time in the morning created a special bond that I cherish, and I am SO thankful to God that He blessed me with children.

I agree with what Danny said a couple comments up. Posts like these make me really look forward to being a dad some day.

My youngest daughter does this… it’s my favorite and yet I sometimes wonder if I’m spoiling her rotten by letting her crash my bed. Oh well… I guess there will come a day when she doesn’t want to snuggle up with mommy anymore and that will be a sad day!

Works with four-year-old sons, too. How God loves us that he melts us this way.
And gives us a glimpse into how He feels, I think, when we draw close to Him.

I have a 3:30am 6 year old. He creeps into my bed and at the moment I know that the world in all it’s errors has peace and goodness. If nowhere else than in my quilted queen bed with that little baby who’s tiny hands gut so perfectly into mine and his breath will always be sweet.
Great post!! Reminded me about the good things I get as a single mom.

I also am the eldest child. I did this exact same thing and have memories at an early age of traveling to my parents room. I think it is fair to say that I am still a daddies girl :) .

Too sweet! I miss that stage where my kids did that. Enjoy it before they grow out of it.

I LOVE this. I have distinct memories of doing that very thing when I was a little girl. I felt welcome and safe. I am now almost 58 years old and just experienced the death of my precious dad, a man of tremendous passion for God and compassion for people. I am so glad I have many tender memories of having him for my dad. I believe that he gave me the invaluable gift of being able to easily feel cherished by my Heavenly Father. That is what you are giving your kids.
