Holt International Picnic 1

We spent the afternoon at the Holt International adoptee picnic.
It was a trip to see all these adoptees running around with my son.
They are all from different countries but couldn’t be more American than Apple Pie.
I look forward to teaching Losiah about his heritage as he grows up.
I also love my 50mm 1.4.

How many of you have any relatives who have been adopted and from where?

My mom was adopted. She has always been here in America but if she hadn’t been adopted who knows if I would even be here today. Adoption doesn’t just effect one life.

Thanks for sharing part of your story at Catalyst via video. It brought tears to my eyes and God certainly used your story to speak to my heart. I admire you and your wife so much for the great things you are doing with your kids. They are beautiful!

Hah, I love the sticked smacked in the middle of his torso. The band teacher at my school has an adopted Chinese daughter. I’m trying to remember if they adopted a second one… I think they did, or they’re in line to at least.

My wife and I have adopted a homeless little boy from the streets of ATL. His mother was one of the women who had been in a bible study I teach every Monday at a homeless shelter and she asked me if we would take him and raise him as our own.

We adopted our daughter 3 years ago from China and have been back twice since then to work with other orphans from her city. We are currently forming Vision to Becca Inc. A non-profit organization which will help us care for afflicted and oppressed children in the world. We are hoping to be able to move our family of 5 to China in about a year to live there and care for these children in a foster care medical house. We would like to adopt again, but not sure how that will happen with us living abroad. If it’s in His plan He will make it happen.

my husband, Paul, is adopted from the US. He is 34 and last year we found his birth father. AMAZING! Paul is Italian, has 80 cousins, 2 brothers, 5 uncles, 2 aunts, a kick-a Italian grandmother named Toni. So fun to discover this “new” family.

We are currently in the adoption process to adopt from the foster system in California. Everything has been put on hold – my husband was laid-off due to budget cuts so we are not a suitable placement home for pre-adoptive kiddos. Sad but seeking God and his timing in everything

My mom was adopted – she was a product of date rape and ended up at the orphanage in Falcon, NC after she and her 16 yo mother were released from the hospital. 3 days later a long-time friend of the IPHC brought my grandparents there and they took her home. Funny thing is my grandparents don’t even act like it happened that way, my mom has been in touch with her half-siblings secretly and didn’t tell me or my sis until we were teenagers. I love the fact that there’s a movement to make adoption and open topic and positive experience for everyone involved, including instilling unique family pride in children who are adopted, and I truly believe that there will be a time for me and my hubby to become a part of it – just got to make sure the timing is right!

We have a 6+ yr old born in Korea. He is an absolute RIOT and keeps us entertained endlessly – such a gift! As a teen, I au-paired for adopted Argentinean boys in Norway (yeah, they blend tee hee). I also found out 3 yrs ago @ 36 that I am adopted (surprise!). God has woven a thread of redemption and adoption through my life that I am STILL discovering. Only Him.
