If You Could Have Dinner With One NON CHURCH LEADER…
A month or so ago I got to have dinner with Scott Belsky, CEO of Behance and ideator behind The 99% Conference.
It was accidental, unbelievable, and future shifting.
It once again brought me to the realization that most of the time, this small little church bubble we live in is exactly that. Sooooo small.
If you could have dinner with a NON CHURCH LEADER…
Who would it be?
Los

Mandela
George W. Bush
Wow, narrowing that down is hard, but one of the first names that jumped in my mind was steve jobs. apple was floundering a bit before he came back on board, but his vision, drive, & priority on innovation has propelled them to new heights. if nothing else, he can share how to communicate or present something in a way that makes a big splash; everyone always looks forward to his big annual presentations for apple.
ok my 2nd choice after mandela is bono
Isn’t Bono a church leader?
Seth Godin. That dude is a freakin’ genius. He understands so well what is driving and motivating people.
I think the correct answer is, Jesus.
You should already be meeting with him
okay forget bono then.. I wanna have dinner with the head of the biggest cult in the world… OPRAH
maybe I’ll get on her favorite things list & convert into oprahnity.
um Obama hands down.
Yea. Obama would be rad
Warren Buffett
Is Jesus really leading the church, or is man getting in the way? *wink back.* I hope and pray its the latter… haha! just playin… and maybe stirring the pot a little.
I’d meet with Bob Iger… you’d think the head of Disney would know a thing or two on how to lead a company with family morals and values as a priority.
hrm. Larry Page. Founding CEO of Google.
Coach Krzyzewski (K)
Catherine Rohr, founder of Prison Entrepreneurship Program. she spoke at leadership summit a couple of years ago. she was absolutely amazing.
Harriet Tubman
First off – I am so jealous of you. And not even in a Christian way.
I’d love to sit down with Sir Richard Branson. That guy has some creative ideas.
Walter E. Williams

He’s one of the most brilliant economic and political minds of our time. I doubt we would agree on everything, but I know he could teach me a lot of things.
How bout John Mayer? He affects more lives in our generation than any Church does…
Then of course so does the NFL and porn…
>dc
Joel Osteen, hands down.
Tony Hsieh
Dude runs an amazingly successful company and people want to work there not just for the money but because of the culture. If all businesses ran using the model Hsieh set up with Zappos, there would be a lot more successful businesses.
Steven Pressfield – author of The War Of Art
Bill Cosby.
i think i’m gonna have to go with Steve Jobs
Johnny Schillereff (the founder & president of Element Skateboards) who continues to inspire me with his brand and out of the box thinking that made Element one of the skateboarding industry’s biggest companies EVER.
Would it be whack to say Carlos Whittaker? If not whack, then I’ll say RagamuffinSoul
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Africa. I would have all kinds of questions to ask that man. He is rebuilding a country after genocide and doing an amazing job!!
I’m gonna go off the cuff and say the first person who comes to mind: Sean Combs. That may sound whack, but if you have your face plastered all over the greatest city in the world (New York) and you’re a business mogul, you’re influencing a different demographic of people than the president or any other leader ever will.
How funny. I would say either:
P. Diddy like Shane
The current President of the U.S.of A (whomever that is)
Tom Hanks / Steven Spielberg
I would say either Lance Armstrong or Michael J Fox. I am a cyclist so the connection is obvious. I am a fan of MJF and would like to talk about his life and PD with him.
Bono… He’s a rock star, he’s reinvented himself more times than I can count and he’s humble enough to realize that he’s not the big deal…
Easy. Seth Godin. That man is a genius.
Malcom Gladwell
Tony Robbins
John Eldridge- Ransomed Heart
Got another, Shane Claiborne
Lee Iacocca, former CEO of Chrysler Corp. That dude is seriously a genius. His 2008 book, ‘Where Have All the Leaders Gone?’, is a recommended read for everyone!
Ronald Heifetz. No question. His book on Adaptive Leadesrhip rocked my world.

Whoever is in charge at Pixar. I think its fascinating how they create art that equally appeals to both adults and children and teaches so effectively universal positive values. Basically what do they do well to get the results they do. I think this discussion appeals to me b/c that is basically what I believe the church should be doing.
If its just about dinner I would love to hang out with Anthony Bordain.
Urban Meyer
ron paul
Idk about thr dinner question but I like the 2nd cover the most. You look happiest.
