Baptisms

Posted on 29. Nov, 2009 by loswhit in Worship Leading

I saw this done at LifeChurch.tv a few months back and experienced it first hand tonight.
Church at Chapel Hill does baptisms live on stage while the band is playing songs of celebration.
So as I’m singing the bridge to Jesus Saves…
Hope is rising up withing me, You’re my Savior and Lord
I almost lost it.
Baptism is a time of celebration and this church definitely makes it a celebration.

And it doesn’t suck that they lady getting baptized during this video’s name was Stormy Bowie.
Praise Jesus for lives changed!!!

We’ve always done it like that too. It’s awesome to be able to sing praises to the Creator as others are being baptized. I think it also helps to remind the congregation of their own transformations and allows them to all engage in the very personal, individual experience taking place. As the worship leader, I feel almost giddy to be included in such a intimate portion of other believers lives.

I cry every time I watch a baptism service. Every time. I love them. It was nice seeing you lead praise :)

I would love to see that every time you sing this song it is during a baptism.
Beautiful message of hope and restoration.

that’s awesome! We do a similar thing at NorthRidge… it’s pretty cool to be singing powerful songs of thankfulness, redemption and praise while experiencing baptism with The Church.

    totally rad!
