I have a friend whose 6 month old daughter has diminished liver function and therefore is at high risk for H1N1, but there are no doses of vaccines in her location to be found. For HER I understand the hype. But for me, my husband and my daughter, I’m not terribly worried. We’re all pretty healthy and I’m not going to freak out just because of the media hype.
For me living on a college campus, the hype is huge. We’ve had several cases on campus, and the hype got so high that people spread rumors of the campus closing. I on the other hand, am not freaking out. If you take the precautions and are healthy then your fine.
I’m answering this question from the Netherlands, where this used to not be such a big issue. Our newspapers headlines last week stated that 95% of the ‘flu-cases’ at this time IS H1N1.
But, saying that, I’m tired of the hype… Our lives are in God’s hand! Who should I be afraid of?
I’ve already had swine flu. Yes it sucked (high fever+ just arrived in tropical climate+no airconditioning= really, really uncomfortable), but when compared with all the things that could happen to you, in almost all cases it is nowhere near the top of the worst things list. It is indeed tragic that people have died from it, but people die from normal flu all the time. Not to mention that heaps more people die from other diseases that hardly anyone is caring about than will ever die from swine flu.
My 3 month old son just had the hype. Imagine your baby gasping for breath. Imagine being told to give your baby an unapproved drug, if you want him to live. Imagine those who don’t catch it in time and lose their babies. This crap is serious for babies, prego women, and our elders. We can stand to tone down the hype, so long as we keep taking it seriously.
Btw, I’m taking my revenge by eating pork everyday. We could start a movement: Prevent Swine Flu: Eat More Bacon.
This summer my daughter, wife and mom all got it. Turned into pneumonia and warranted a week long stay in the hospital for my daughter and a few days for my mom.
It’s the real deal. I’ve never seen anyone sicker.
That being said, I dont believe the hype. We won’t be risking the shot, especially after most of my family already has some antibodies.
I hate the hype, because it incites panic, but I am very much praying for my niece who is 39 weeks pregnant and her 3 yr old, 5 yr old, and husband all have it!!!! NOT good.
Super tired of the hype.
It’s been hype from the beginning.
Check the stats – in early May, when they were predicting all these deaths and what not, there had been fewer deaths caused by the swine flu than those caused by tuberculosis (31 to 63,066 respectively).
So sick of the hype! For the vast majority of people, if you get h1n1, you’ll be fine. Its just like any other flu, you’ll be sick but it will run it’s course and be gone soon enough.
Ya know what’s funny? I thought piglet farted and that’s why they pushed him out. DOH! But then I realized what it was really about. I think I’ll stick with the Piglet having gas version.
One of my Army friends heard a briefing on it and said they are tracking it down to the person…which reminds me of another virus they did that with, oh say, AIDS?
Tired of the hype, but it is a very serious reality nonetheless. My relatively healthy 7yr old just got over H1N1. Had a fever for 6 days and missed 5 days of school. The key is to not be fearful, take necessary precautions, and trust our Healer.
I have the hype. SUCKS.
that reminds me of the “blustery day” when piglet writes a note that says “help ppppiglet…me” and puts it in a bottle to throw into the water.
just a worthless glimpse into my head.
Rabbits can also be infected with H1N1. We have a problem here. On another, slightly unrelated note, so can ducks. So, let’s not get rid of Piglet.
I’m tired of the hype!
As long as it doesn’t interrupt my bacon eating, I could care less about the hype.

hahaha I love this! At first I didn’t get it, but a few seconds passed and I just bursted out laughing. Great photo!
Tired of the hype…

Despite that, tired of the hype.
Tired of it!!
LOL. That’s hilarious! Tired of the hype but understand that it can be serious for some.
So very sick of it and I haven’t even watched the news. My disgust is from Facebook alone. Grr!
