“We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of civilization. There is still a voice crying out..across the generations, saying:  Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you. The end is reconciliation. The end is redemption. The end is th…e creation of the beloved community”

(Martin Luther King qtd. in The Beloved Community by C. Marsh).

Hard to believe the Church attacked and persecuted this man so harshly for so many years… in fact, these words were probably in some small part reminders to love and bless the Church – his enemies who cursed him.

Humbles me. Makes me wonder where else we’re completely missing the boat today.

Carlos, read (if you haven’t already) the letter he wrote from a Birmingham prison cell in ‘63 in response to white church leaders. I did a blog post Monday and used some of it. His words about the Church for the future were nothing short of prophetic.

“too God-intoxicated to be ‘astronomically intimidated’”

    Favorite quote. Evah. Period.

I wonder what that would look like face to face? I’ve read about it in the Bible…would like to experience it before I die.
