I’m mourning this show ending.
But I’m pumped to find out all the secrets.
This is an epic shot with Locke in the middle.
Sacrilegious as it is…
Who has some good ideas as to what it means and was this whole thing a dream or what?

all i can go with is not a dream. they’ve said from the beginning that it’s not a dream. and i’ve given up trying to figure it out. i’m just taking it all as it comes and enjoying the ride.

      Yes and yes.

        They’ve also promised that it’s not a snow globe…

i have a theory that the show is going to come full circle in its time travel chaos. and the final scene will be all the survivors getting on plane.

the plane is Oceanic Flight 815. we’re back to before the flight even crashed.

everything is going great and then all of a sudden there is some turbulence and the show fades to black.

    before the crash.

I’ve said this all year…if they go 12 Monkeys on us, I’m going POSTAL!!!

I’ve never watched Lost. Probably never will.
But I’m interested/curious as to why you said, “Sacrilegious as it is…”
Is it the painting that you see as “religious” or that they’re toying with the idea of a messianic figure?
    Just wondering.
    Keep up the great work.

I think that you might have to watch to really get it (as it’s a season 5 spoiler bomb shell!)

Locke is seen as the “Man of Faith” in the show, but having him in the position of Christ is rather “Sacrilegious” to say the least.

best show ever. hands down. like i have the past 2 years, I will be breaking down every episode of Season 6 over at my blog.

no idea how the writers are going to bring it full circle, or even how the season will begin, but I think they’re going to make us think that the explosion at the end of last season worked. I’m giddy just thinking about it.

like you Los, i’ll be sad when this ride is over.

(these were my thoughts on the Season 5 Finale)

I just want Charlie back. :*(

    • Jordan 5 January 2010 at 8:17 am #

he’s back for a couple of episodes.

    • Kyle Reed 5 January 2010 at 9:06 am #

Just watch flashforward and you can have your charlie fix

      • Brad 5 January 2010 at 1:47 pm #

So very true! Too many loose ends – hope they get tied up.

Having never missed a single episode, I’m extremely anxious to see how it all works out. My guess is they leave us with just as many questions as we had before.
Locke being in the middle, eluding to him as a messiah-esque figure, is most definitely interesting! And no Charlie? That’s the biggest disappointment. I figured somehow Charlie would survive/be brought back…

They have confirmed that Domonic Monahan will be in this season. I think it will end up being recreations of old scenes we have seen or maybe even the blast caused them to go back to before the plane took off and it will follow his story a little from there. I’m definitely excited about the last season as well. I trust them to end it well.

I’m sure there is a ton of symbolism in that picture that I’d love to take apart. However, I’ll let the experts do it and read their conclusions.

  8. Aaron 5 January 2010 at 6:58 am #

Do you really think all the secrets will be revealed in the last season? (I think not — that’s part of why this show is so alluring.)

Here is something that hit me the other day. Tell me if this is true…
John Locke was never really John Locke, instead he was that guy that we see at the very end of the last season (season finale killing richard)?

Which makes sense why he was able to walk, etc…at least I think. Or maybe he was taking the appearance of Jacks Dad. I dont know, never mind I guess.

    • Kyle Reed 5 January 2010 at 7:48 am #

Carlos, will you delete this comment.
I meant to post it under my name

    • Brad 5 January 2010 at 2:04 pm #

Time travel is messy! When do we see Locke Die? After he left the island, right – so what comes back to the island (and what’s the box at the end of S5?) Real Lock – so FLock (fake lock) is only in season 5 (IMO).

Also – I think you mean when Locke goes to kill Jacob (not Richard).

i think esau (the man in black… whatever you want to call him) was jack’s dad on the island.

Hey Kyle – check out my wife rant on “What does it mean to be undead” on her Lostipedia page…

I’m such a blessed man, that I have a wife who posts on a wiki (sorry geek out moment).

My first reaction to this picture was that it is very reminiscent of the promo photo for the last season of Battlestar Galactica. (Yes, I’m a girl geek. What?)

I also think the positioning of Locke in the center is telling. He’s always been a central figure and I’m looking forward to finding out what the heck has been up with him this whole last season.

I do not think the whole thing was a dream. I think the whole thing was orchestrated by Jacob as part of some bigger, more cosmic battle with the nameless other guy on the beach.

Can NOT wait for this season to start, dreading the end.

  12. Gary Humble 5 January 2010 at 8:15 am #

Well, Kate seems to be sitting in the place of Judas. Does that have any meaning? Is Kate going to bring down Locke? Not sure if they meant anything by that. But knowing Abrams and crew…it must.

I have so many theories that you don’t have enough room for them all. Really. So far most of them have come true with the exception of not knowing what’s ACUALLY going on! My family and I spent the holidays rewatching all 5 seasons for the 3rd time for a refresher before the premiere (now that is sacriligiious). So many clues when you go back. One thing has to be for sure – reincarnation of some sort- between the van off the island tht has it spelled backwards on it’s side to Charlies tatoo that is almost in constant eye range. Both times of crashing/landing on the island (1st & 2nd), some people black out and others don’t- maybe some are really dead? The black & white pebbles in locks eyes during Claires dream and several other references to two distinct sides……. Urghhhh- I need Celebrate Recovery for LOST addicts.

    • Brad 5 January 2010 at 2:10 pm #

      So very true!

  15. Jeremy 5 January 2010 at 8:53 am #

It’s all about time distortion and maybe even alternate reality? I love the art though, just as I loved the Battle Star Galactica rendition. At this point they could bring in aliens and I would still watch it…

  16. Kenny D 5 January 2010 at 10:00 am #

What’s “Lost”? and who is “Locke”?

  17. Micah 5 January 2010 at 12:30 pm #

I used to be obsessed with Lost, but they created too many questions that they have already said that they are not going to answer and I’ve lost my LOST fire. So don’t expect answers to a lot of your questions. They are simply brushing them off as “mystery.”

    • Brad 5 January 2010 at 2:17 pm #

      YOU HAVE TO COME BACK…

(sorry for yelling – just had to be said)

  18. Robbie Russell 5 January 2010 at 12:50 pm #

I’m more of a blog consumer than a contributor! But when you talk about lost, this fan boy has to chime in!

As far as theories go… if this whole thing is a dream then it would be highly disappointing!

This particular picture is fun and I hope it has some relevance.

Here is the last supper schematic according to google:
    http://www.bringyou.to/apologetics/LastSupperSchematic.jpg

If the placement is right that means that Sayid is Judas!

Also, in front of Sun is a bottle of wine, which represents the blood! Does this mean Sun will die this season?

I guess we will find out! Thanks for sharing!

you should check out Chris Seay’s new book, The Gospel According to Lost. you should be able to pick it up at your local Barnes and Noble.

    http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Gospel-According-to-Lost/Chris-Seay/e/9780849920721

Chris is the awesome pastor of Ecclesia in Houston and brother of one Robbie Seay.

  20. Brad 5 January 2010 at 1:56 pm #

What’s really crazy is to note the placement of skulls at some of their feet (Sayid & Hurley) also I love the placement of Jack as Thomas!

The other thing that makes you wonder is who is Judas supposed to be? Sayid is the obvious fit, but could it be someone else?

@ Chuck – have you got your copy yet? I’m trying to get on very soon! Also – look up Christ on Facebook as he has some very great Saintly Artwork of the Lost Characters!

    • Chuck Harris 5 January 2010 at 4:45 pm #

i don’t watch the show, but i read Chris’s Gospel according to Tony Soprano and i didn’t watch that either. i’ll probably pick it up in February when my Borders rewards kick in. i have several seasons on my computer, just haven’t watched them.

  21. Josh 5 January 2010 at 2:05 pm #

I’m with Jordan above. I think the guy with Jacob in the finale (Esau?) who we think is inhabiting John, has been inhabiting Christian (Jack’s dad) since season 1. The only weird part about that is when they re-crash on the island, where the new Locke exists, Christian is also there to meet Sun and Lapidus. Not sure what to make of that.

  22. Art 5 January 2010 at 2:06 pm #

Never watched it. Not one episode. Not even a re-run when nothing else was on TV.

I’m waiting for the show to be over… and then I’ll buy the super-deluxe DVD set and watch it then.

Seasons 1-5 are already on DVD at Amazon.com… http://www.amazon.com/Lost-The-Complete-Seasons-1-5/dp/B0021L8FO4/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I20XUI2R7AF59D&colid=NOHSIK0CLQNI

Something to chew on… There is another promo pic almost exact BUT some people are seated differntly. Sun and Ben are switched, Claire is on the opposite side of the table- and they are ALL staring at Lock. Check it out http://bit.ly/7a5aRv

I cannot express my love for this show enough. The upcoming season feels bittersweet to me already, I don’t want it to end.

    • Cynthia 8 January 2010 at 6:13 pm #

I feel the same, I have some other die hard Lost fan friends and we like to say that ‘Lost isn’t a tv show it’s a relationship”

  25. Tina 5 January 2010 at 9:35 pm #

Interesting picture. I am just mad that the peanut butter is in front of Kate and not Claire!

  26. Phillip Gibb 5 January 2010 at 11:32 pm #

maybe the show will start up again – on the third day. umm, sorry.

  27. Brad Brinkley 7 January 2010 at 9:52 am #

I just hope the picture means that John is somehow going to be resurrected again… can’t wait until February 2nd.

Saw a promo commercial during the AL/TX game last night which showed images with Amazing Grace playing. Awesome commercial – had me anticipating just hearing the word “lost” – and it made me think they were intimating that the final resolution of the show would be REDEMPTION.

I think “the man in black” is able to inhabit any dead body on the island. You’ll notice that they’re never in the same place at the same time. You don’t see dead Christian in the same scene with dead Locke. Or when Ben goes to be “judged”, Locke walks away and then we hear the “monster”. Monster goes away, and then we see dead Locke. So I agree with many of you, it’s been the “man in black” from the very beginning who’s using dead bodies on the island to manipulate his will to eventually kill Jacob.
