11 Thoughts From My First Night On Tour
Tonight was a first for me. I’ve never been on a “tour”. I am a local church worship guy. I had a blast…
- I’ve never played in front of people who have paid money before…It was weird.
- I had no idea I was supposed to carry a Sharpie with me at all times.
- Sleeping on the top bunk of a moving bus is not all it’s cracked up to be.
- I had no lyrics on the screen during the first 2 songs and then I saw Shane B. sprinting across the back of the room…He saved the day and I ran my lyrics the last 2 songs.
- I followed the Chick-Fil-A cow throwing our little cows. Nothing like starting off with humility forced down my face.
- The crowd seemed to REALLY love We Will Worship You. They were singing LOUD.
- People want a story more than they want a song. Link your song to a story and they will listen and sing.
- There are no bands I would rather start off this adventure in life with than The Shanes and John Mark McMillan. Normal people. I mean the Shanes drive their own bus for the love.
- John Mark McMillan is the cats pajamas. Just him on acoustic and James on electric. Nastiness.
- I have no band. It’s me and tracks and my acoustic guitar. I’m jumping around like I am surrounded by a full band. I feel stupid and amazing at the same time.
- Satan’s lies that I’m not good enough were replaced with God’s truth that I’m not good enough…but He is…through me…

love it. congrats on a successful first night.
Thanks AZ

Yes ma’am. Where are you at?
Good old St. Louis MO.
I have to tell you as a mom of 5 I carry a sharpie wherever I go! It’s indispensable! Glad your first night went well!
They are amazing.
5.I followed the Chick-Fil-A cow throwing our little cows. Nothing like starting off with humility forced down my face.
haha :] thanks for taking a few minutes to talk to john and i. great to have met you. good luck with everything!
Sorry it started so late!!!!
Seriously, who wouldn’t want to follow chick-fil-a cow? That is heaven on earth right there.
Good to hear man, wish you were stopping by the STL, but will follow on the blog for now.
Thanks brosef
I’m totally bummed because I didn’t know about the Birmingham show in time to change my plans so I could make it there.
Alabama loves music, so I know you are going to have a great show tonight.
Thanks man!
So good man!! Thanks for letting us keep up with you on the road.
That must be a surreal moment when you realize oh crap…these people paid money to see me! We are trying to get our church to that but it just doesn’t work…hahahha
Haahahhaha. TotLly.
You know you’ve made it when you follow the cow. I’ve followed Ronald McDonald before.
Totally.
I SOOOO wish I could see you in B’ham tonight, but alas, I have this job, see….You know.
ONE DAY I will see you in person. I mean it! In the mean time, praying you rock their faces off and show them Jesus tonight!
Thanks friend. You keep doing what you do.
Los
Hope you have a blast brother! Looking forward to not only being able to buy your stuff in Australia but maybe catching up one day…all the best!!
#5 busted me up, hahaha!
Congrats man. Hope I get to sing with you some day. Any by “with you” I mean you on the stage with a mic and me in a huge crowd that is drowning out my voice. I sound good in the shower when nobody else is home.
you are in very good company with the Shanes! phenomenal guys!
I love that “Save Us Now” that you shout in the background of We Will Worship You. Great song Carlos.
Saw you tonight in concert in Alabama and all I have to say is, wow, the Lord has gifted you with a powerful message (”Save us from our comforts”) in We Will Worship and Jesus Saves…
Keep pressing on my brother in Christ!
I got to worship with you guys tonight in AL. What a blessing, I feel like I have grown so numb in my life with Christ, feels almost wrong to even say that, but He has slowly been chipping away these walls I have put up, so that when I sing “I want to yearn for you”, I actually mean it. I feel like all you guys that played tonight hammered that into me as well, especially one of the lyrics that you sang, about being spared any joy that is not of God. I keep getting brought back to that lately, that God wants me to hunger and thirst and yearn for him. And that’s it, He wants to satisfy me.
So, thanks for bringing truth and love through your songs.
Glad you’re having fun with it!
Very cool, Los! Thanks for sharing. Where can I find the stories behind your songs?
my EPK in my music section
#11’s my favorite.
Enjoy the journey.
Hey! I am actually one of Shane & Shane’s students and you’re right…they are some awesome, awesome people.I so appreciate your honesty about not feeling good enough; I can see how sharing a stage with people like the Shane’s can be intimidating, but I’m convinced you’re honest enough with yourself that He will use you in great ways. Look forward to hearing more about the tour!
BTW, regarding #5, humility is WEARING the cow suit. Don’t ask me how I know.
Enjoyed talking with you for a few minutes last week.
I pray success, adventure, wonder, and insight on this new chapter.
Pax.
How excitingto watch you on this journey- can’t wait til you make it near me!
Super rad. And this is just the beginning!
Wait til you come to Africa. We’ll take you to the real Catz PJ’s.
Wow Shanes and John Mark? Awesome! Can’t wait to see your worship one day, and maybe play with you perhaps?
