If you had one more night on earth, and could eat at only one restaurant and have only one meal…
Where would it be and what would it be?

Cheesecake Factory. Chicken & Biscuits with Smashed Potatoes & Gravy. Dessert to be determined at time of meal.

Or my house for Pastiste (Greek lasagna). Made by my master chef (self-taught) husband….And my Choc cheesecake.

Mickey Mantel’s in Bricktown (Oklahoma City)… steak and potato baby. (It’s where I proposed to wife)

  5. Amanda Sims 25 February 2010 at 5:07 pm #

    The Stockyard in Nashville, TN

    Appetizer: Marinated portabello mushrooms

Dinner: Filet Minion w/ baked potato

    Dessert: Something decadent and chocolate.

And maybe, just maybe, Macallan scotch on the rocks.

Peter Luger’s steakhouse in Brooklyn, NY. This is the place to go for steak. Forget ambience, forget decor, forget style. It has none of that. What it does have is the best porterhouse steak you’ll ever eat.

My mom’s stuffed artichokes with a side of breaded eggplant and pasta with artichoke sauce. Dessert? Ice cream.

  9. Kelly C. 25 February 2010 at 5:13 pm #

Most definitely Ruth’s Chris’ Steakhouse. I’d have the Filet Minon, the garlic mashed potatoes, and that would be enough. This steak is nothing like I’ve ever tasted. Oh no. I think I have to go eat some now.

Def. The Penguin in Charlotte NC. Full-Blown Hemi with fried pickles!

  12. Heather EV 25 February 2010 at 5:24 pm #

    Hmmm…

Red Lobster…lots and lots of lobster and crab…my favorite!

But it would HAVE to be with friends and family! Or it just wouldn’t be worth it.

  13. Queenzilla 25 February 2010 at 5:27 pm #

I’d probably have to find a taco stand on the side of the road and get some carnitas…with cilantro, a little pico de gallo, and lime. I’d wash that down with horchata and finish it off with a paleta de coco…or maybe fresa. Then just stick a piece of caramel in my mouth and I’m ready to go.

  14. Christina 25 February 2010 at 5:39 pm #

A home cooked meal by my mom and dad at their house. =)

  19. Pearmama 25 February 2010 at 6:33 pm #

I refuse to answer this question. As a fat girl, it would be sacrilege to choose just one. I don’t know which restaurant it would be…but it would definitely be some sort of sushi. Mmmmmmmm

  20. Jennifer 25 February 2010 at 6:38 pm #

I think I would have to say Chick fil-a. We only get to eat there about once a year b/c there aren’t any near us. We have to travel at least 2 hours to get to one.

    • wombat 26 February 2010 at 4:09 am #

As a Marketing Director for Chick-fil-A I was hoping someone was going to post that. Awesome!

    • the asaff 26 February 2010 at 7:03 am #

I agree, Jennifer! We have to drive a good 2 1/2 hours to get to one too!

There’s one in the food court of a college here, but it’s waaaaay on the other side of town! And it’s just not the same! We need a REAL Chick-fil-A in Wichita!

Man, a deluxe chicken sandwich with waffle fries and a peppermint shake sounds AMAZING right now! Or nuggets with fries… dang. Now I need to go to Kansas City! :)

      • luft 27 February 2010 at 11:28 am #

The girls at Chick-fil-A are MOO-E-BUENO!

  21. Keith Barger 25 February 2010 at 6:58 pm #

Lobster shack in the middle of 7 mile beach, Negril, Jamaica. I’d be eating Lobster the dude caught for me while I reveled in God’s beautiful white sand and turquoise water.

    Dino’s Pizza for sure.

  24. jason 25 February 2010 at 7:04 pm #

Without a doubt I would go back to Albergo Ristorante Ca’ Cerfogli in Emiglia Romagna region of Italy. There’s no menu. You eat whatever they are having that night. Family style. The mushroom torteloni there was the most amazing thing I’ve ever eaten. Hand made pasta that was paper thin and melt in your mouth stuffed with house made ricotta cheese in a light butter sauce with porcini mushrooms, scavenged in the surrounding woods. It was heaven.

  29. Elissa 25 February 2010 at 9:04 pm #

Clearman’s North Woods Inn in San Gabriel, Ca (though the Covina location would work too) for Salads and cheese bread, Filet Minon, the most amazing rice pilaf on the planet and a giant baked potato with cheese butter….then the rum fudge sundae for dessert!!! Oh gosh I just gained like 15 lbs thinking about it but hey, if it’s my last meal it’s not gonna have time to make me fatter huh?!

  30. mel 25 February 2010 at 9:27 pm #

oh my. it’s 9:20 p.m. and the hubs just went out to get dinner…NOT good time to check my reader! These comments are killin’ me!

It would HAVE to be peruvian food…loma saltado, arroz con pollo…oh man…anything on the menu at this point!

  31. Jeff Hawkins 25 February 2010 at 9:37 pm #

I would make homemade grilled chicken salad, then finish it off with homemade mixed berry scones, drizzled with white chocolate, paired with some kona coffee

Easy- a pulled pork sandwich from most BBQ joints North Carolina. One of the few things I really miss while in AZ. They just don’t get it right here.

  34. Janaki 25 February 2010 at 11:32 pm #

A cheeseburger and side salad from the Horse Brass Pub with a pint or two of Old Rasputin. Probably close to 2000 calories but who cares?! Nothing compares to it.

  37. Molly 26 February 2010 at 3:59 am #

Not at restaurant, but Aqua Terra Bistro in Buford, GA would be the caterer… around a HUGE table with all of my friends. Liberty School Cabernet and tapas (every item on the Aqua Terra menu) to share and pass around.

Would have to be Kumas Corner on Belmont in Chicago…best burgers EVER!!..they make their own ketchup even, pretzel roll buns..and bourbon ON TAP!! It is a “biker” bar..best in the summer when the patio is open..because the wait is shorter:)…you have to check it out when you land in Chicago…and let us know what you think..hope to see ya there..

  50. Chris Meirose 26 February 2010 at 6:55 am #

Fogo de Chao – but they’d also be serving me bacon. That amount of meat might kill me early in spite of your scenario!

  51. Brandy 26 February 2010 at 6:58 am #

This is like asking which kid do you love the most…impossible question….

I have no idea about the actual restaurant, but it would be in Italy-spaghetti and meatballs, Dr.Pepper(what? It’s a grown up drink!), and chocolate cake. Appetizer of summer tomatoes, mozz cheese and fresh basil and olive oil. Crusty bread. Man, I am hungry…

  52. Boomer 26 February 2010 at 7:13 am #

A glass or two of Pinot Noir
    Chicken Madeira
    Kahlua Cheesecake

  60. Mike C 26 February 2010 at 9:06 am #

I’d go local and stay home with my family and just eat whatever was in the fridge. With family close by on my last day on earth any food would be memorable, even ramen noddles.

  61. BtheYouthGuy 26 February 2010 at 9:53 am #

I’m surprised only one person so far has said sushi. We’ve got this great sushi place in Brandon called Tokyo Zone, their Grand Canyon and Deep fried California rolls are amazing!

    • Rachel Ward 26 February 2010 at 2:35 pm #

I think its because when you think of what you want your last meal on earth to be, it becomes nostalgic–like something from childhood. I’m sure a few grew up with great sushi, but I land locked gal like myself didn’t taste decent sushi until 5 years ago! At least that’s one theory.

  62. Michael Levitt 26 February 2010 at 10:07 am #

Monte Cristo sandwich at Bennigan’s. So bad for me, but tastes so good.

  63. David Womack 26 February 2010 at 10:22 am #

or a full sample platter from Jack Stack also in KC. I’d eat the whole thing.

  66. Rachel Ward 26 February 2010 at 2:31 pm #

At home with Aaron and our closest friends. It might look something like whole roasted chicken, with roasted veggies, potatoes gratin, a good salad, and maybe a chocolate tart for dessert…or maybe chocolate mousse…or lemon meringe pie (obviously we should have all three!) And all with a good glass of wine.

  70. christine 27 February 2010 at 7:07 am #

If I could be sure I would die soon after, I think I would feast on seafood. It tastes sooo good, but about 6 hours after I eat it I am always violently ill for 24 hours–so I haven’t intentionally had any for years.
