1) my laptop. Most of the phone numbers in my phone are also on Outlook, even if I don’t have my phone, I have numbers… as well as music and documents from 9th grade (2002) until now.
2) my journal. You can always buy another Bible, but what you write down in a journal is irreplaceable.
3) If it’s the middle of the night, I’ll grab some clothes to put on once I’m outside.
My mom always told me growing up that if the family is safe, she would go after photographs… especially the ones of me and my sister growing up (obviously irreplaceable, esp. since digital stuff wasn’t around then). Now, she would add pics of my father (since he is deceased).
Honestly, probably my purse and my ipod. For some reason I feel that if I have my wallet and my ipod…all is right with the world and I can face whatever might come my way.
So many important things are up in flames at that moment, and probably for a reason. I think I just put on a pair of jeans, walk out and watch it burn with no regrets.
My art kit that includes my Bible, my calligraphy supplies (inks, pens, nibs and cleaner), my art papers, my bound portfolio of all my inks and graphite drawing, and my art journal that I sketch ideas in before actually trying them.
All my documents and pics that are of value are backed up remotely, but I can’t replace my art work.
Well, the first thing that came to mind…was my music. So, I guess it would be my laptop because all my music is on it. But, honestly I don’t know-it’s one thing to talk about it than to actually be in that situation.
Once when there was huge forest fires heading for our town i grabbed laptop, wallet, passport and important documents, the bible with all my personal study notes, my autograph collection and a change of clothes.
Personally I would grab my computer phone and wallet, but I know that if I didn’t at least try to grab our wedding album my wife would be sad… good thing I know where all of those are at the drop of a hat
1972 Martin 12 String Guitar. Was given to my mother-in-law when she was a kid and she never played it. She gave it to me a few years ago and no I plan to pass it on again.
first i would throw my bin full of pictures out the window and anything else in my room i could chuck out my window that would survive the drop for a few mins… then i would grab my computer and external hard drives and throw them in a bag swing that over my shoulder and grab as many other pictures and things I could on my way out. (yeah, I’ve thought about this a lot before =] )
Bible, keys, flashlight, phone. All of those things are right next to my bed. Important computer stuff is backed up online and as much as I love my instruments, they aren’t worth dying for. If I had time, I’d definitely grab clothes before I grabbed any computer or music gear.
I keep a bunch of flash drives in my purse with copies of all of my digital pictures on them, just for this scenario – so I would definitely reach for my purse!
My great-grandmother’s wedding ring and a family rifle from the war of 1812. Those are sentimental things that I can’t replace, although I can certainly live without them.
my two cd binders of photo’s and my laptop and fav bible. (all by my desk)… everything else I can replace… in the process (long and tedious) of scanning all my film pictures and working on the negatives as well… hopefully all digitized soon… and will be backed up online. I use Gmail as an archive as well for some important pictures I can’t replace… I just email them to a secondary email account I have.
There is a large tote bag by the front door that contains all my Compassion sponsorship correspondence with our sponsored children, and it’s there for such a time as this. It’d be one of the first things I’d grab.

Was in a similar scenario when we evacuated New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina, but then we have 4 hours. So in case of a fire it would be:
Laptop
Camera

Wedding Album (We lost our original in Katrina so I would make sure we had this one!)
My computer bag – even if the Macbook isn’t in it, all of the backups are. Pictures, music, videos, church creative stuff, etc…
Huh. I’m stumped.
Honestly, probably my purse and my ipod. For some reason I feel that if I have my wallet and my ipod…all is right with the world and I can face whatever might come my way.
But then…I don’t get out much.
So many important things are up in flames at that moment, and probably for a reason. I think I just put on a pair of jeans, walk out and watch it burn with no regrets.

Well, the first thing that came to mind…was my music. So, I guess it would be my laptop because all my music is on it. But, honestly I don’t know-it’s one thing to talk about it than to actually be in that situation.
