I Need A New Preacher

Posted on 25. Jun, 2010 by in Religion

I’m in the grind.  I get to see lot’s of the same peeps give lots of the same amazing talks.
Kinda like my setlist.
I’ve got one that I kill. So I do it over and over again because I’m in front of different people all the time.
Makes sense.
But I want to know…

Who is a preacher that we might not have heard of that has been killing it as of late?
Los

Oh.  And leave us a link to!

I love Chris Ruppe at http://www.northrockhill.com. My favorite series so far are the Sex/Love/God and What If.

I may be a little biased, and we don’t have video (just audio and text), but our Senior Pastor, Mike Edmisten has been absolutely destroying it lately.

The series we’re in right now, “Man Up,” has really hit me hard as a guy trying not to screw things up. He doesn’t pull any punches…let’s put it that way.

David Platt has an AMAZING series that he preached a while back called ‘What the Gospel Demands’ that he preached from 9/6/08-10/25/08. It’s completely rocking my world right now.

I am just finishing up a week long conference with Dr. Arturo Azurdia. If you want funny, feel good theology, this ain’t the guy. If you are looking for solid, life changing biblical truth then sit down, strap in and hold tight, ’cause you’re world is about to be rocked.
If you lead, teach on or participate in worship in any means, you need to hear his study on Psalms 100.

since i’ll see him in a few days, there’s a great pastor out in California right now named Steve Carter. he’s kind of a baller; a great guy speaks great words. he worked at mars hill with the kids, students, and college ministries.

I don’t think he has an active blog anymore, but his wife does.

Ray Johnston (twitter @rayjohnston) is rockin it in Northern California. Preacher of the Word but down to earth cool guy. When a lot of other churches are looking for the next social hot topic, he relies on the Word for the base of his teaching. To some it might sound trivial but we’re going straight through the New Testament, 1 week = 1 book. It’s been great. He applies the Bible to everyday life experiences.

I second the person above who said Bill Johnson. Check out iBethel TV or the weekly “sermon of the week” podcast from Bethel Church in Redding. Profound revelation!

  32. Marshall 25 June 2010 at 7:29 pm #

I will also encourage some Bill Johnson. I’m at Bethel right now for their worship school and there is some crazy annointing over the teaching of the pastoral teams here. And this is comming from the conservative Baptist kid who is way outside of his element.

    • Shelley 26 June 2010 at 12:05 am #

haha! I love it! I was also a ‘conservative Baptist girl’ until I got rocked by the Holy Spirit. His presence is amazing. I’m learning so much right now about the prophetic, worship, and just enjoying Him! That is so awesome that you are at the worship school right now. It looks like it’s amazing!

Carlos, you should listen to Pastor Steve Gray from World revival Church in Kansas City. There are some video podcasts on Itunes from his church. It is different from what you are used to, but you will enjoy it.

I think it is down right amazing how much content we have at our fingertips! To look at this list and think, 10-15 years ago there was your own pastor and then 3-4 decent guys on the radio… unbelievable! It’s good to remember too that with greater access to truth comes greater responsibility to apply truth.

Anyway, love James MacDonald… Walk in the Word podcast style. Dynamnic, grounded, hold nothing back…
Allistair Begg is too… just a little more heady…

What else could you want than a preacher diagnosed as bipolar who is under treatment, feeling strong and just preached his mother’s funeral on July 11? I do prefer a meaningful liturgy and a sermon that helps you feel so comfortable before the scripture slides the chair out from under you but the responsorial song/hymn gets you back up on your feet and ready to love again….
    That’s me…
    Reverend Dave
    Pastor Dave
Just Dave Write when you think you can take the risk!
