Broke my arm kicking a soccer ball. That takes talent.

      Go into detail please…

Yep, I broke my finger colliding with the keeper my junior year. Missed the championship because of it.

Not quite as epic, but.. when I was a kid if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up .. without hesitation my answer was ALWAYS “Wynonna Judd”. not a country singer, not a musician, but Wynonna Judd. And I wore red cowgirl boots til I absolutely couldn’t fit my feet in them any longer.

Haha – I did the same thing, but with Anne Shirley! I prayed and prayed for red hair…

…I puked three straight years in a row on Christmas morning cause I got so excited, got in trouble during Vacation Bible School cause my buddy and I got bored and walked over to the pool hall (my parents – who were my Sunday School teachers – were totally cool and said they probably WERE boring), and I also got cold-cocked once for no reason in Sunday school.

had strep throat 7 times in one year and 4 the next and still have my tonsils…. no joke!

peed my pants in Kindergarten and had to wear someone else’s “emergency pair” because apparently I peed mine so often that my mom couldn’t keep up with the demand on backup pairs. True story.

I was in a handbell choir in school and it was awesome. I miss it so much. But to be original,

… I used to be involved in after school “ice shooting wars” where we shot ice at each other using straws after we finished our drinks at mcdonalds.

…athletic and cut. Then I grew up and got fat.

I slept with a Donny Osmond pillowcase on my pillow. “May tomorrow, be a perfect day…”

…I loved drawing and art. Then I grew up and forgot about it trying to get a “real” job (stable, long term, low risk of losing).

I’m rediscovering my childhood love now & very thankful God didn’t put me in a “real” job.

…my best friend and I would write letters to New Kids on the Block professing our love for them.

I’m so embarrassed. I can see God shaking His head at me right now…

oh, and I was in handbell choir too. Rock on ;)

Won a singing competition with my sisters. We were dressed up like nuns, singing “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria” and “The Lonely Goatherd” from Sound of Music. Lord have mercy!

…cast as Nebuchadnezzar in a musical put on my church (Yes, I played a king as a girl.). I totally rocked it, btw. I was homeschooled, and that was my creative outlet. I loved the spotlight, and that was the springboard for my passion for theatre that I still pursue today. I was also in Bible Quizzing for a year, and I did many a human video in youth group.

    • Brenda 25 August 2010 at 9:31 am #

Also, that picture totally made my morning. I once did a handbell song at church camp, and I thought it was the coolest thing.

When I was a kid, I failed my eye exam on purpose so I could get glasses just like my best friend’s. They were double bar glasses. He was a boy. I am a girl.

I’m convinced I wouldn’t need glasses today if I hadn’t of done that. Darn you, double bar!!!

    • Ruth 25 August 2010 at 11:40 am #

What?! I thought I was the only one who did that! I need glasses for real now, too. Boo. Glad I’m not alone. Lol

    • Amy 3 September 2010 at 1:24 pm #

!!! I thought I was the only one! I thought I would look so cool as a 2nd grader with HUGE rimmed glassed (thank you 90s). I’m also convinced I wouldn’t need glasses if I hadn’t done it.

I guess you could say I was a Vacation Bible School “frequent flier”…my grandmother made sure I attended every church’s VBS within a tri-city area. Maybe it was her interpretation of living out…”train up a child…” (Prov. 22:6) or better yet, making me get up early even in the Summer! It had it’s benefits, because if another church was doing the same theme I already knew the songs for the week! :)

    Los,
I was an Eaglescout, Band President, Captain of the Wrestling and Soccer teams. They balanced each other out.

But here it is….I had a scholarship to play the HANDBELLS at FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY!!! Now that’s GANGSTA!!!

    • Brenda 25 August 2010 at 1:41 pm #

      Best scholarship EVER.

really enjoyed being a kid. Now I have kids that I get to help enjoy their kidness, and I still get to be a big, responsible looking adult kid at the same time.

  25. jendockery 25 August 2010 at 12:25 pm #

I made my own Hammer pants and modelled them in a 4-H fashion show. I also wore them on numerous occasions to school.

I am now trying to find all pictures of those pants to destroy.

Your post took me back! I spent all my teen years as part of a handbell choir called the “Teen Tintinabulators.” We worked really hard, but we had unforgettable times. And we dominated at the the Church of God competitions that happened every year. Woot!

  27. Jenny 25 August 2010 at 1:12 pm #

nuh un. For reals? that’s awesome!

  28. Jenn 25 August 2010 at 3:52 pm #

Was part of a children’s choir and I phone pranked my ex boyfriend so much in grade 7, that the phone company tracked me and I had to go apologize to his parents and the head of the phone company. Really sucked…

  29. Lee Bezotte 25 August 2010 at 4:06 pm #

Los, you look like a young Barak Obama in that picture.

When I was a kid, I formed a “gang” with my friends and we did “escape drills” in the park at night… but only until we got beat up by another “gang”.

  30. shayne 25 August 2010 at 4:47 pm #

I don’t know how it is I do this, but I keep forgetting that I was in Bell Choir, too. Seeing the picture I was like, DUDE! I did that too!! And then I talk to myself, like “you remember? yeah I remember”.

Bell Choir. Man! How can I keep forgetting that?!

    PS: Nice outfits. :)

  36. Rich Kirkpatrick 3 September 2010 at 12:30 pm #

I sang for a Big Band as their front man, made decent cash but NEVER told my friends since I was embarrassed about being dressed in a tux and everyone was only into rock stuff–or Oingo Boingo.

  37. Bo Lane 4 September 2010 at 12:00 pm #
