I find it interesting that Mississippi, which is listed here as having the most churches per capita, is also the highest in the nation for per capita charitable giving.

Best Freshwater Access. Make it rain, baby.

  3. Brandi 1 February 2011 at 10:25 pm #

Is it super lame that I had to look up what “bellwether” means?

    • Sarah 1 February 2011 at 11:07 pm #

No, I had to look it up too. And I used to be an English teacher.

      • freddie 2 February 2011 at 7:30 am #

        so What does it mean?

  4. Josh 1 February 2011 at 10:32 pm #

  5. Brad 1 February 2011 at 10:44 pm #

Wow I’m glad they found some thing nice to say about SC after the long string of fails our state has suffered.

  6. Adam 1 February 2011 at 10:44 pm #

Chutch attendance. Wish I could get excited…I would be excited if all lived the faith they had on Sunday on a daily basis!

Most Wind Power Production? I’m not sure if they mean Wind Production by Giant Fans or by Bean Eaters?

  8. Kayla 1 February 2011 at 10:52 pm #

    Church attendance :)

Side note: Is that the best thing they could com up with for Nevada?

    • Kayla 1 February 2011 at 10:54 pm #

      come*

    • HeatherEV 1 February 2011 at 11:29 pm #

I was wondering the same thing…

  9. Erin 1 February 2011 at 11:01 pm #

    Golf Holes? Really?

  10. Sarah 1 February 2011 at 11:02 pm #

Busiest airport hub: Seriously, that’s all they think Georgia is good for? The ATL airport is a pain in the a$$. Though it’s a great place for people-watching. Nothing like a metropolitan melting-pot atmosphere nestled at the edge of the deep south!

  11. Stephanie 1 February 2011 at 11:05 pm #

golf holes? REALLY? Its saddens me that that’s apparently the best thing in good old SC. We’re gonna have to come up with something better.

  12. Gina 1 February 2011 at 11:14 pm #

Heart health huh… perhaps that has to do with the activity required to move all that confounded snow? Oh, wait, that is what causes the heart attacks!

My little Louisiana does FOOD really really well.

    • Brian 2 February 2011 at 10:01 am #

    NH – Least Poverty — wow…thats sweet.

  15. Aaron 1 February 2011 at 11:22 pm #

Well, Oregon does a lot of things well, but Portland, specifically has a lot going for it. For instance, the dream of the 90′s is still alive in Portland….

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVmq9dq6Nsg

“Portland is city where young people go to retire.”

Now who doesn’t think that’s awesome?

    • Charlie's Church of Christ 1 February 2011 at 11:45 pm #

I’ve got mad Oregon pride. And we have a six month old baby – so my wife is stoked about the breastfed baby percentage (to which she contributes).

  17. HeatherEV 1 February 2011 at 11:30 pm #

We’re the safest for workers…if only there were any jobs available…

  18. Annie 1 February 2011 at 11:35 pm #

  21. Kutterz 2 February 2011 at 12:25 am #

Pennsylvania Sandwiches!!! Primante Bros. in Pittsburgh and the Cheesesteak in Philly. Doesn’t get any better than that.

  22. Heather 2 February 2011 at 1:13 am #

Texas is also frighteningly good at executions (and as a bonus, sometimes the executed aren’t even guilty!), but that’s not so cheery on the infographic.

  23. Brenda 2 February 2011 at 4:58 am #

What do some of those mean, anyway? Most equal? Most average? I grew up in WI, then moved to MN where I did not graduate college (should have stayed in WI?). But yay for my heart! We also have (I think) the most shoreline of any state. Land of 10,000 Lakes, baby! If only we didn’t have quite so much snow in the winter…:)

  24. Ed Budias 2 February 2011 at 8:49 am #

Nothing too skillful about owning a weapon.

  25. Ethan 2 February 2011 at 9:20 am #

Haha, Ohio does have a good library system, heck they’re all connected to each other. I’d say we have the most devoted college football fanaticism as well…that’d probably be too hard to fit in that space though…

    • Abby Y 2 February 2011 at 9:46 am #

      Amen! hahaha
We ohioans love our football. And anyone yells “O-H” at you, you will for sure respond with “I-O”

  26. Shelby 2 February 2011 at 9:21 am #

Best Value University… if only It was the University I was in.

  27. Kim S. 2 February 2011 at 9:49 am #

I may have lived in SC for the past 5 yrs but I claim NC as my state and I totally agree with what it says about NC…there are so many choices for great colleges and reasonably priced to with the financial aid and grants and such.

    • Kim S. 2 February 2011 at 9:51 am #

Now if only I had learned this before I went to one the most expensive one in the state. :(

  28. Brian 2 February 2011 at 10:00 am #

My state has perfected the art of FAIL. (Mississippi)

  29. JaxFost 2 February 2011 at 1:27 pm #

haha Arkansas has the lamest one…

  30. Seth D. 2 February 2011 at 1:48 pm #

Living in the state with the highest income (Maryland)isn’t so bad.
How come they couldn’t have a better thing for TX? I mean come on! They could have done best state EVER, or most awesome state in the world, or something along those lines. Wind production just doesn’t cut it.

  31. Carole Turner 2 February 2011 at 3:46 pm #

Any and everything food related. in other states people eat to live, here, in Louisiana, we live to eat.

  32. Marni 2 February 2011 at 4:27 pm #

Best University value? How do they quantify value? By price? But what do you get out of that price? Not all of the higher education around here is what I would considering the best bang for your buck.

Hence, I am going to a school online in VA.

  33. Jessica @ Bohemian Bowmans 2 February 2011 at 4:37 pm #

Busiest Airport Hub? Seriously? Is that even a skill?

  34. Natalie 2 February 2011 at 7:00 pm #

South Dakota clearly only has the fewest mental health days because it also has the fewest employed people. On the map of what we’re worst at South Dakota was noted for “Rape”… I really hate my state some days.

  35. Luke Mundy 2 February 2011 at 7:51 pm #

“Safest For Workers”? This must be a few years old!

    Oklahoma gave the world YouVersion

  37. Dani 3 February 2011 at 1:54 pm #

Ah the spaceport. The thing about having a lot of land, and not much of it is good for farming, is that your land gets used for crazy stuff like testing atomic bombs, and sending private space shuttles into the great unknown. Oh and filming crazy desert movies. I love NM!

  38. Lindsay 3 February 2011 at 3:03 pm #

I hate golf and I live where there’s the most golf holes!

  39. Billy Starkweather 5 February 2011 at 4:09 pm #

Unfortunatly our state is very well known now for the fist pumping and really big hair, but truely we have beautiful beaches here, trendy cities, and country towns. It’s a little bit of everything. I love NJ!!
