Uh, hello. Jesus.
Ok, I just had to do that.
Now that it’s out of my system, the most “famous” person I know is… err…. now that I think of it. I really don’t know anyone like really famous. I’ve met tons of famous people but I don’t *know* them. I guess you would be a famous person I kind of “know” because I read your blog and have met you in person.
Yes, it is fine to consider that cheating.
Bob Ritchie
Eddie Kirkland from North Point in Atlanta. My husband and I went to college together and Eddie honored us by singing at our wedding… of course that was all before he was a big dog at North Point!
Ah…making it someone we “know” versus someone we’ve met adds a whole new dimension to this question. If it’s that level, I’ll have to say Joe Case, former local meteorologist. If it’s just someone famous we met…and we can’t say you, Los…it’s probably one of the three Presidents I met during my days in news reporting.
You,Pete Wilson, and few others from Crosspoint.
Lecrae and Derek Webb.
I was speeding with Lecrae and we got pulled over!! The cop knew Lecrae, and we got let off with just a warning!!!
#BoomSauce!!!
Let me clarify…
I was speeding…getting him back to the airport. We were late. But he made his flight.
Rikki Rockett, drummer for Poison. He (and his drum crew) built my current drumset and I’ve been to his house a few times. Really, really down to earth, nice guy. No rockstar attitude at all.
Los can I claim you since I met you once at a Drive conference?
SK
If I’m honest, none. Let’s be real. I don’t “know” a famous person, as in know them personally.
I was at a Paul Baloche concert once, and he recognized a Tweet I’d mentioned him in… and he called me out from the stage… “Hey… aren’t you that Macho guy that tweeted me earlier?”
I have met a few others. I used to lead worship at a church Mike Tomlin (Pittsburgh Steeler’s coach) attends.
But know… as in really know them? Can’t say any.
I’m sure we all have met someone that flaunts the “I know such-and-such” bit, only to realize they only hung out with them once.
Hey… I ate dinner with Brian and Jenn Johnson from Bethel Church while at NWLC this year. In reality, I was with the friend I was staying at, we were at the same table of 12, and Jenn said something to me at one point, and I took a picture of them.
WOO HOO…
I don’t know a famous person.
(enter cheesy line)
except JESUS… but then again, I could probably get to know him more and more… so he’s not just that guy I tweet every once in a while.
hubby and I went to high school with Eric Church. My husband knew the Avett brothers when they were all kids. We can’t really say we know any of them anymore though.
I hung out with Rob Bell backstage between services like 6 years ago. Oh, and I sleep with The Very Worst Missionary!
HAHAHA! Amazing. So are you the second worst?
Hell naw! I’m the best!!
That comment is 94 different levels of awesome.
Your son IS famous! Adorable! heh heh
Err my brother was in Patrick Stump’s new music video? If that counts! So my little brother! haha
I know Tony Kriz aka Tony the Beat Poet from Blue Like Jazz…really, really cool guy and incredibly genuine.
Does soon-to-be-famous count? My (Distant) Cousin Nate Whitaker. He just graduated from Stanford Univ, and has been signed as a kicker with the Minnesota Vikings. His jersey number is 9 and he is 22 years old.
My aunt was in Forrest Gump. My grandfather called us 3 times to tell us. (Each time was the first time) Her son (my cousin) was in the new Mean Girls movie, but his parts got cut.
Nobody personally but I live very close to Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Clarkson, David Cameron (his personal home not 10 downing street), Ben Kingsly and Gwyneth Paltrow!
My husband’s boss…Randy Bachman.
John Mark McMillan…the guy that wrote that Crowder song…lol…totally kidding….love JMM’s version way better. I was in school with him at Morningstar, sang a several worship teams with him. All this when he was an up & coming songwriter…now look at him. We don’t stay in touch much, but definitely chat if we see each other at a venue, conference, or whatever.
Chris McLain – Lead Singer for Strech Arm Strong. I also know a couple of girls who were in the background of the Days of Thunder shoot.
I’ve personally shaken hands with Barak Obama, Colin Powell, Rudy Guiliani, Jay Leno, Bill O’Reilly, Kenny G, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach, Dan Marino, James Brown (sportscaster), John Maxwell, and a few others I can’t remember. The only famous people I personally know are the founders/owners of Curves… Gary and Diana Heavin.
::crickets::
I saw WWF star Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake at the Orange County Airport when I was a kid. I thought I had arrived. Too chicken to ask for an autograph.
William Drayton… aka Flavor Flav. He used to come into my place of employment 2-3 times a week back in 2004/2005. He would bring in his kids and hang out for a few hours at a time. I helped him purchase 2 homes in LA & was actually toying w/ the idea of being his PA at one point. Super nice guy!
this one wins – hands down…
My great uncle was the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff from ’78 to ’82.
Probably Kevin Bales. He’s one of (if not THE) leading expert on modern day slavery.
And my pastor knows Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons. 1 degree of separation, baby!
Oh, and I know people who know your parents!! Does that count?
This will sound dumb but the most famous person I know is a professional video gamer (mainly Call of Duty games) who goes by the gamer tag “Optic Predator.”Apparently he’s a pretty big deal. He’s a member of my youth group and makes twice what I do as his youth pastor. I think I should have played more video games!
Shoot, after reading these comments, I need to get out more.
Will.I.Am from BEP. Super nice guy and always has tons of questions. We’ve spent Christmas with him and gone on a vacation together. Jaime knows everyone I’m just lucky to have met him so that I can tag along on his adventures
A couple guys I played football with in HS….Eddie Royal from the Broncos and Evan Royster from the Redskins.
Supposedly “The Downtown Fiction” is becoming a popular band? I don’t particularly enjoy emo type music but know 2 guys in the band!
A Jacksonville Jaguar player
I worked for Ravi Zacharias for 6 years, and my grandmother is good friends with Kay Arthur. Do those count as famous? Probably only in certain circles…
OH, and Joel Thomas at Northpoint was my youth pastor/intern my senior year in college. I’ve got some crazy memories of that dude!
That’s senior year in high school, not college. Sorry, Joel. I know you’re not that old…
I’m personal friends with Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Billy Graham, and Steven Spielberg.
The most famous person I know is Los Whittaker. He used my guitar when he played at The Orchard in ’10.
well… a friend of mine has over 1,000 FB friends — and he still returns my emails within 48 hours.
Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock” used to work for my dad as a painter when he was in college at UM. His then girlfriend and now ex-wife Dany used to have to pick him up at our house after work because he didn’t have a car. Oh how things have changed!
I went to high school with Indianapolis Colts player Gijon Robinson…that’s about as famous as I’ve got!
I grew up living across the street from Baby Jessica after they got her out of the well. Used to go over and play Sega Genesis and watch movies with her mom and step-dad.
Country music legend, Ronnie Milsap. He is my wife’s uncle.
I know David Coleman. He’s known as the Date Doctor, and more “famously” inspired the movie “Hitch.” No, he doesn’t look like Will Smith, but he CAN say that Will Smith played him in a movie.
