Christmas Lies

Posted on 23. Dec, 2011 by loswhit in Authenticity

I just told Losiah that Santa is watching him and to fix his attitude.
I told the girls last night that The Elf on the Shelf has one more night of flying to the North Pole to let Santa know if they are being little brats.
I told my wife that I am excited about driving to the 432432 family members houses during the next 2 days to celebrate Christmas with every blood line that has ever touched ours.

I lie more during Christmas season than I do any other season.
But it’s for the greater good.  Of’Course… ;)
What was the last Christmas lie you told?

One of my kids (now grown up) was found opening one of her presents from under the tree. I took her with me to put it in the dustbin. As she hadn’t seen it, we took it out of the dustbin and rewrapped it in different paper after she was in bed. For years she stopped her younger sister and brother from touching the presents by telling them what we’d done. She was grown up with kids of her own before we told her what had happened. We hadn’t lied, cos she didn’t ask.

The last one? That it won’t bother me waking up in an empty house on Christmas morning.

      Jason,

I am praying for you…I have a dear friend who this is happening to this year. I’m making him hang with me this year! We may cry together…regardless I’m there for him (and you…) #PRAYING!

Lol…as a PreK teacher I may or may not have told a student this week that I had a direct line to Santa’s top elf, and if they didn’t start using kind words with their friends, I would give him a call and get them put on the naughty list. As I teach in a small, private Christian school, I’m pretty sure that’s grounds for immediate dismissal (seeing as how I’m not supposed to talk about that guy in the red suit.) What can I say? I’m a lying rebel.

      awesome. i respect lying rebels.

In my job I work with kids with wide ranges of behaviors.. last good one.. you’ll get coal for Christmas and get to keep it until you turn your behaviors around and earn your actual presents… Santa doesn’t like naughty kids.

We don’t do Santa at our house, so we don’t have to tell that one.. But yea, we do the traveling.. Just drove for 15 hours to my wife’s parents house, driving another 5 hours on the 26 to see my brothers, then 20 hours back home on Jan 1, after I preach at a morning service… And boy am I “excited” about all that

That I like the Christmas season. Truth is, I detest it with every fiber of my being.

I though out a “Jesus and Santa Claus do not like when you disrespect your parents” last night when our son was acting up while out eating dinner.

Well the first part is true. Honor your father and mother.

  9. Lizette 23 December 2011 at 6:05 pm #

Santa doesn’t come if you don’t eat your vegetables…

“The real reason for Christmas is Jesus’ birth” among other things. (Yeah yeah, I know, NOW we celebrate it on Dec. 25 because we don’t know when for sure, but everything else came from surprisingly non-Christian sources :P I know, I know, “bah humbug”)

Omission of the truth? I signed my fellas card with just my name…..when I really wanted to scream out in big letters “I love you”!

    • Fiona 24 December 2011 at 6:57 pm #

      Ditto :)

  12. Doug 23 December 2011 at 9:30 pm #

My daughter wanted to known if Santa could bring all the kids in the world toys, then why couldn’t he bring kids that were hungry a bowl of cereal or something (it was breakfast when we were having this talk) she is 4- almost 5.

I told my oldest son (6 yrs) that I had Santa’s phone number and was going to call him if he didn’t straighten out. He said he didn’t believe I had his number until I picked up the phone and dialed. He freaked out crying, I may have taken it too far.

I am in fla. and hurt so I don’t have to travel any more, which is awful with small children. My kids are in their 30′s.I go to my daughters about 6 miles away. she cooks, and tells the santa lies. The things we pass on to our kids. Not so good. lol

    Well… technically, it wasn’t a complete lie, but…

I told my mom I would not be filling her stocking. She looked sad and said she’d put stuff in it and pretend it was from me. In truth, I bought all the stuff to put in her stocking and my sister is filling it for me (my sister lives with my parents and I don’t). so like I said, not a complete lie.

hopefully, my mom will be pleased in the morning to find presents in her stocking :)

That I would sleep in this morning,

For me it is telling people I am okay for fear of ruining their Christmas Cheer or filling the room with silence. Truth be told I am not okay. My heart is aching and my arms are breaking. I am not happy, but bitterly sad. For in my arms should be the most beautiful 4 children God put on this earth. Two never celebrate Christmas anymore because their Dad is against it, One is just a memory, I dont know where he is or what he looks like, and the other…..well he spends an eternity of Christmas’ in Heaven now and no matter how long I wait he will never grow old enough for me to hold again. Truth be told, I am not Okay. I am dying inside……

    Lie: This cake is great!
Truth: I’m about to choke on this piece of cardboard. My mother’s cake would destroy this.
