There are somethings that people will never know about you.
Not because you don’t want them to…
But because they don’t live with you.
So for instance…I love to share the good bad and ugly with you guys…
But the truth is…I get to pick those good bad and uglies.
So you get to know what I choose.

Some things are insignificant.
But they make me…me.

It’s me sleeping on Pete‘s deck.
He shot a tweet out this morning amazed.

If you “know” me…you know that if left with a choice between sleeping under a ceiling fan or under the stars…
I choose stars.
When we stay in a 5 star resort in Hawaii, I sleep on the balcony.
If we stay in a cabin in Big Bear, I sleep in the back of the truck.
That’s a tiny thing that makes me…me.

1.  Catalyst Creative Team – Brad Lomenick and Jeff Shinabarger run this craziness of an ideation factory. Since I left Buckhead Church this is where I get to sit with insanely creative people and dream about how to impact next generation leaders. It is by far the most fun time I am currently having during this season.

2. Writing and recording with Jason Ingram and crew – I always knew that there was a frustrated songwriter in me. And Jason beat the hell out of him and brought him out. The songs we are writing are being written out of the current season I am in with Jesus and the church. Excited, frustrated, and hopeful are definitely ringing throughout the song themes.

3.  Coaching and joining with creatives across the world – The coaching network I’m in is keeping me plugged into the heartbeat of what is going on in local churches all across the world. From ideation process to simple creativity tricks, these guys and girls are keeping me fresh with concepts and ideas.

So yes. Life is full of goodness.

Hey all. Well, as most of you well know, Carlos is on a blogatical and with that, has asked me to take over things in his absence. Who am I? Well, I am Crystal Renaud and can usually be found at PinkHairedGirl.net. That’s my cozy little area of a internet real estate. I have been blogging since 2003 and somehow got to know Carlos along the way. I am honored to call him a friend. I am totally going to agenda-push (because hello, I am posting on ragamuffinsoul) and share with you, that I am working on a project of my own. I am not going to go into detail (I am not that shameless), but if you’re curious, check it out.

I don’t know about you, but I am super proud of Carlos for taking a step back to evaluate things. Prioritize. Breathe. And connect with our Maker. While I hope he returns sooner rather than later, I am excited to see what God does through this time.

Atlanta, GA. This is the deepest I have ever been. Things were really easy for us in Riverside. I could have been there for the rest of my life and been great. Moving here was a step into the deep for us.

So what’s the story with the basement?
Basement story. The family and I lived with the Phenix family in their basement for 5 months after moving to Atlanta because our house had not sold. Finally we pulled it off the market and rented it out. So we finally got out of the basement and have been in this rental house for about a month.

Um. I am assuming you mean advice. Hard to narrow it down. But simply put. You are not David Crowder. You are not Joel Houston. You are Tyler. Be you and write songs for your church so you are not singing nothing but songs that were written for a church on the other side of the world.
How long have you been playing guitar?
17 years. Dang I’m old.
What is the best way to prepare to be a worship pastor?
Take the word “worship” off the title. And work on the pastor part. Trust me. Most worship pastors are not pastors. They are vocalists. If you get the pastoring part down, you are 90% ahead of the game.
ps. I know your title isn’t a worship pastor but I know you have much experience within that arena.

Simple. We both know that the “work” will never end. Right?
So if I spend all my time getting everything ready for Sunday behind my MacBook Pro, which can be done, then by the time Sunday rolls around, it LOOKS great yet NOONE knows me. And at that point I have failed far worse than it looking like crap and everyone knowing that I had a really #$! week so they are praying for me.
